Franklin Institute Wedding | Katie + Chris

Pouring rain, a pitch black ceremony inside a Planetarium, even a groomsmen having the wrong color tux couldn’t stop Katie + Chris from knocking their wedding photos out of the park! For me this was one of the most challenging and rewarding weddings that we have ever photographed. Just skip right to the photos, seriously, I’ll wait;)

Katie and Chris held their wedding at one of the most unique Philly venues, the Franklin Institute! We started with getting ready photos of the ladies at the Logan Hotel just around the corner. It was pouring rain in the morning however it stopped just in time for us to go ahead with their first look. We arranged to have it on the rooftop of the Franklin Institute, which has quite the view of the Philly skyline & the new Comcast building. We spent so much time up on the roof as the sun was slowly working it’s way down and the sky kept changing colors!

After city scape portraits with everyone we did a whirlwind bride and groom session inside and around the museum. After a little break we moved onto their ceremony which was held in the Planetarium under the stars and Saturn. It was super dark and emotional inside the dome. It was probably the darkest ceremony that we have ever photographed (and we’re going on 10 years here!) so it was truly a challenge for us to light them without bouncing light all over the room and ruining the ambiance of the ceremony.. we succeeded!

Finally it was time for the reception intros in the ballroom under Ben Franklin’s marble eyes:) We were totally locked on to them as they performed their choreographed first dance.. and like everything else that day Katie + Chris just nailed it.
