This past Saturday Maureen and I traveled just down the street from where I live to photograph Martha & Keith at the Liberty View Ballroom. The Ballroom is in the mezzanine level of the Independence Visitor Center right next the the Liberty Bell! As we were walking in the Visitor Center we heard flutes and drums as well as guy dressed in period attire playing a hammered dulcimer… what a cool place to have a wedding!
We met up with Martha, Keith and their 20 person wedding party(!) in the lobby of the Omni Hotel. Martha & Keith had decided to do the portraits and wedding party photographs before the ceremony, since it was likely to rain later. (more on that in a bit..) Since I know the area very well down by the Constitution Center we planned to walk across the street to the 2nd bank of Philadelphia and work our way over to the wedding site. Everyone in the wedding party was so much fun and I couldn’t keep a smile off of my face! I had a great time working with all 22 of them.
Normally, when the weather is cooperative weddings at the Liberty View Ballroom are held outside on the balcony facing south (towards the liberty bell among other historic sites… hence the name ‘Liberty View.’) But due to the rain the event staff decided to move the event downstairs into one of the movie theaters of the Visitor’s Center. So we went from plenty of light outside to very little light inside in a matter of minutes… No problem for us; we specialize in adapting to difficult lighting situations very quickly! The ceremony was beautiful and everyone attending cheered when the couple as took their first kiss.
The rest of the night was as much fun for us as it was for the couple! We were able to relax and create images as everyone was having such a good time. Thank you Martha & Keith, we wish you all the best! Enjoy your pictures.
