Mini Sessions are short photography sessions that we offer a few times each year. These photography mini sessions are perfect for holiday cards, back to school pictures, or just celebrating and documenting the growth of your family! Many of our clients make this an annual event, allowing us to reconnect and create beautiful artwork for each year of their lives.

The sessions are shorter in duration, around 15 minutes, and they are limited to a single location. Clients choose from available time slots, each with limited availability. So if you see a time slot that works for you, we highly recommend booking quickly, as our slots fill up quickly.

Do the Mini Sessions Have to Be Family Photos?

You may use your mini session time for any type of portrait session. This can include a couples session, a maternity session, a senior graduation portrait session, and more. The only portrait session we do not allow is with newborns younger than 6 months.

How many photos will I receive?

For a 15 minute session expect 5-10 images.

What should I wear to my mini session?

We recommend wearing clothing that matches or compliments everyone in the photo. This does not necessarily mean that everything needs to be the same color, but the style and colors should look intentional. Consider the following:

1. Should we go with formal, casual or something in between? Avoid mixing and matching casual and formal wear.
2. Should we stick to a color palette? For example, different tones of blue, red, or another primary color can look great.
3. Should we be silly? Sometimes a silly theme is perfect for family photos, such as matching onesies.
4. What matches the scene?  Our sessions are typically in nature scenes, with natural greens and browns. You may choose to either match or compliment the scene.

May I bring my own props to my mini session?

Yes! Feel free to personalize your session. Our advice, however, is to not get too elaborate. We want to spend the majority of our time making sure that photos turn out exactly how you want them to look, rather than fiddling with props and trying to make them work.

How many outfits should I bring?

The shorter mini-session time frame only allows for one outfit. Please come dressed and ready to go!

May I bring pets?

You may bring your pet, but please ensure that they are well-behaved.  Keep in mind the shorter duration of the shoot and understand that getting the right position and expression for your pet may take time that chips into capturing other types of photos.

When should we arrive?

The shoot will start promptly at the arranged time so please be sure to arrive at least 10 mins prior to your official start time.

Do prints come with the Mini Session Promo?

No. You will receive a digital gallery where you can view and download your images directly. If you would like prints, we offer a variety of paper prints, canvas prints, and other wall art options.

What if we want more time for photos?

You may purchase back-to-back slots to get 2-20 minute sessions. Or we can work with you to book an individual family session. To book a full family session email matthew@mcmastersphotography.com

What is your Cancellation Policy?

Mini Sessions are non-refundable and cannot be canceled. Life happens, we get it! If you absolutely cannot make your session and you cancel with at least 24 hours notice, you will receive a credit towards a future session. No-shows or cancellations outside the requested timeframe will not receive a credit. If the session is canceled because of the weather you can use your credit for another date.
