Wilkes-Barre Wedding | Karla & Jay

What can I say about Karla & Jay;)  How about that they are two of the most genuine people you will ever meet.  I was really happy to watch them interact and celebrate their wedding this past Saturday in Wilkes-Barre PA.  Wait a second… Wilkes-Barre!  Yes we travel all over to photograph awesome people!

Maureen and I drove up the northeast extension on Friday afternoon to stay with my friend Pat overnight.  I’m not sure how it was arranged, but my brother and our friend Josh were stopping by Wilkes-Barre to stay with Pat as well!  So it was already a great start to the weekend once we arrived later that evening.  I had never been to Wilkes-Barre but for some reason it almost feels like home… I guess I just know (and like) a lot of people from up there.  Maureen’s parents also grew up in Wilkes-Barre so it was like a journey down memory lane;)

Anyways, the combination of all the aforementioned stuff plus Karla & Jay’s wedding made for a really pleasant weekend.  We started with some groom getting ready shots at Jay’s parents house.  Then we hopped over to Karla’s parents house only 5 mins away.  From there we all headed over to St. Mary’s, a beautiful old church with a balcony!  There’s a special image down below that I have never done at a wedding before.  I hope you enjoy it;)

After the ceremony we headed over to Kings College to take some wedding party pictures.  It was a beautiful courtyard with LOTS of shade, which is always a plus.  Thank you Karla & Jay for giving us plenty of time to work with.  It’s so relaxing to be able to take our time and enjoy the experience! This gave us plenty of time to head over to the reception location: A Touch of Class: Catering at the Palace. (That’s the full name)

The rest of the night wore on beautifully.  I also got a pleasant surprise when the DJ came up to me and introduced himself as George Rittenhouse, the father of my friend Jenelle who works as a second photographer with me from time to time!  Jenelle was actually the reason that Karla & Jay even knew about me in the first place.  It was so great to meet George, and even better to work with him and hear him sing. (He has a great voice!)

So we left Wilkes-Barre with smiles on our faces;)  Thanks again Karla & Jay and everyone involved in this weekend.  Enjoy the photos!
